The two music galleries in the nave of
St. Mary’s were completed in 1660 in
connection with the organ building of
Friedrich Stellwagen. They enable
polychoral music to be presented as
it was in the North German city
churches in the middle of the 17th
century. Both galleries are well
preserved in Stralsund and permit the
unique and faithful reproduction of North
German church music of the
Renaissance and Baroque periods.
